A Red, Red Rose
for tenor and piano

Written for tenor Brent Doucette’s Master’s Recital at the University of Michigan, this setting of the renowned poem seeks to express these long-lived words from a new perspective. As a young composer, hunter wanted to allow for a youthful, hopeful perception of love to bleed into this work, with special attention paid to harmonic variety.
