Written for Amy Mazzeo for Christine Brewer’s annual Webster University Residency Week, 2018. The subject of this residency was for singers to explore texts and compositions by Holocaust survivors and victims. This is a setting of the German Criminal Code that banned homosexuality in Germany, thereby paving the way for discrimination and mass murder of gay citizens (men in particular).
